Alternative Spring Break Ideas

Each Spring, there is one week students look forward to the most: Spring Break! This one week hiatus allows for students and families to catch up on sleep and spend some much needed time together. Recent studies show that only 35% of families actually use this time for vacation. Many find it too expensive or troublesome to travel during this time, and instead choose to enjoy a “staycation” instead.


For those looking for things to do on this “alternative Spring Break,” here’s a couple ideas:

  • Take a day trip to the beach
  • Read a book (or a whole series!)
  • Study for the ACT/SAT
  • Re-Organize your room
  • Dye your hair
  • Camp in your backyard
  • Watch Netflix
  • Watch all the Harry Potter movies in one sitting
  • Bake something
  • Learn to play an instrument
  • Hike
  • Go thrift shopping
  • Clean out your closet
  • Volunteer
  • Learn to read tarot cards
  • Plant something in your garden
  • Wash your car
  • Go to a concert
  • Adopt a pet
  • Explore a new part of the city
  • Try a new restaurant
  • Take a new exercise class
  • Sleep

  • Watch all of Game of Thrones (before the season 8 premiere in April 14th!)
